Matt Cooke Elbow: Should the Pittsburgh Penguins Trade the Suspended Winger? Source: Bleacher Report
In the wake of Matt Cooke ‘s long suspension, rumors have sprung up that Penguins owner Mario Lemieux and team president David Morehouse have decided that Matt Cooke needs to be traded. Furthermore, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that GM Ray Shero disagrees with this sentiment and is adamant about keeping the headline-grabbing forward. So who’s right? I obviously defer to Lemieux on most things hockey related, but I think I’m going to side with the GM on this one. It’s pretty obvious (at least to me) that this suspension has more to do with Lemieux criticizing the NHL publicly than it does with proving a point about headshots. … More here

Pens pick up another critical point. All you need to know. In a game that was critical to the Blackhawks, the Pens hung on to the bitter end. In the years before the Pens and Hawks started shooting to stardom, we saw the Hawks as a mirror image of the Pens, in terms of building through the draft, plugging holes with some tick turds making plays, and solid defense. The only parts that aren't similar: the egregious Brian Campbell contract and the fact that even some of the Blackhawks players don't know who their goalie is. Can't really find a reason to despise the Hawks. The Marian Hossa hate should've subsided when the Cup was raised in Detroit … Read more

RECAP: Should He Try To Do Some More. PENS WIN. Source: The Pensblog
When Mario Lemieux or Double J would hop over the bench, you couldn't help but get to the edge of your seat. It's an intangible feeling to describe. Any time 66 or 68 was on the ice, something could happen at any given moment, and you wanted to be ready for it. Sidney Crosby, in all that he's done, has never done that for us. He does now. Even something as simple as the first time he touched the puck in this game. He had speed through the neutral zone, confronts the D-man, performs a spin move, and gets off a backhand that had more velocity to it than a Rob Scuderi slap shot. But more importantly, you cannot take for granted what his second goal did for the Pens. The game was 2-1, and Atlanta was owning the period, save for a Pens PP goal. Enter Bing. He splits the Atlanta D, buries it, and makes it 2-2 late in the first period. Completely changed the game. Pens regained their shit after that and went on to cruise to a 6-3 win … Read more

RECAP: Just The Ten Of Us. PENS WIN. Source: The Pensblog
The Pens have reached the double-digit mark in their winning streak. That's big news. The games at this point of this streak feel like playoff games. And there are so many stats being thrown around right now, but we have to take a moment and look at the most astonishing stat: the Penguins have 40 points; the Devils have 18. Ouch. Any time you win 10 games in a row, it is a big deal. The Pens have a huge cushion in place when and if some three- or four-game losing streak blindsides them out of nowhere. … See more here

Pens Newbie Corner – What If That Game Was* More Exciting?!

Saturday, November 27th, 2010

(*Grammar Nazis: “had been.”) …I would probably crap myself. Or puke. Or have a heart attack, involuntarily rip my hair out, or the like. But no, the Penguins visiting the Sabres in HSBC Arena this Wednesday was perfect for me as a game to attend, and a win to boot! :D

This is just an opinion post. It’s not any kind of in-depth summary or review, or anything like that. So if you’re looking for one of these, you are welcome to go elsewhere. You can find one in plenty of places at this point, probably starting here. …For those who are staying, there’s a slideshow at the end, wooOOOooo!!!

…My first attendance at an NHL game ever… I like that. :) It was definitely a new experience for me, a great starting point when it comes to attending NHL games! There were sooooo many new things to absorb, and I tried my best to soak in as much as I could. The fact that I had such a striking visual did so much good in helping me learn more, especially about the players themselves!

Things that I, personally discovered by attending this game… ;)

- Don’t ever feel so embarrassed when you do things dedicated to one goalie playing that evening and it turns out another’s in net. Loosen up, tightass. Get over yourself. Nobody really cares, and shit happens. That actually goes for all players.

- Comrie (who still sucked, I’m no good luck charm) is not #14, he’s #19. #14 is Kunitz. Close considering my handwriting, but when was I writing? …No cigar. Slacker. *cough*

- Dupuis is #9-not-8. While texting, remember to use the “my finger slipped” excuse FIRST, then immediately admit your mistake and joke about it, not vice versa. *innocent whistle*

- Intermission: stomach or bladder. Pick one. In some cases, you’ll probably miss the beginning of the next period anyway. It’s all about priorities.

- Geno didn’t score for you. This is unacceptable. He should be traded. Or you should forgive him. Just make up your damn mind, you snob.

- Third star of the game Sid rocks your socks more than you like to admit. First star Fleury’s back, bitch. You still love Johnson’s Led Zeppelin masks best, though, and that’s perfectly okay.

…Now to the pics!! Some are from my cell, a few twitpic’ed already. Most were taken with a (5+ year old) digital camera – whose clock reset to midnight February 2nd 2006 mid-game, UGH. But no worries! I chronologized (BIG WORD) allll the pics just for you! …Sorry for some blurry shots. Also, my sense of placement and timing is magnificent. …Trust me, I got rid of the really bad ones, haha! I am no expert photographer, that’s for sure… Plus my photo editing skillz suck, so didn’t bother with that. …You’ll forgive me, right? Heheh :P

Here you go, there are about 50 pics… ENJOYYYYY! :D
