Jagr Eyes Lemieux on NHL’s All-Time Points List Source: Bleacher Report
At the age of 40, Jaromir Jagr still looks up to Mario Lemieux , both figuratively and literally. With his 1,642 nd point in the NHL , Jaromir Jagr recently moved past Joe Sakic and into eighth place on the NHL’s all-time points list. While passing Sakic is certainly noteworthy, passing the next guy on the list will mean much, much more to Jagr. You see, the next player on the all-time points list is Mario Lemieux. On several occasions Jagr has stated that Lemieux was his idol and that he wouldn’t be the player he is today if it weren’t for Lemieux. In one of the more bizarre statistics in NHL history, before Lemieux came out of retirement during the 2000-01 season, Jagr had assisted on exactly 66 of Lemieux’s goals and Lemieux had assisted on exactly 68 of Jagr’s goals: their respective uniform numbers … Read more

Denver columnist responds to Pens blowback Source: The Pensblog
Dieter continued his jammed-up-edness in a recent blog post dated in the mid-afternoon on Sunday. He goes off on a tangent about Stub Hub again. Dieter wants to get his point across that 95% of the Pens fans at the Pepsi Center Saturday night are bandwagon fans, fans who wouldn't have been caught dead in a Pens jersey at the beginning of this millennium. Then he cites the Pens attendance numbers from 2002-2003 and 2003-2004, numbers that were definitely at the bottom of the barrel. To close it all out, Dieter takes the high road and says he's lived in Colorado for over 20 years and he respects the human beings that live in Denver. what the fuck. No clue what that has to do with sports. … See the rest here

RECAP: Rocky Mountain High. PENS WIN. Source: The Pensblog
At least one Pittsburgh team can win Denver. The Pens did what they needed to do: got a big lead and got the hell out of Colorado. The Stars and Avalanche aren't the 1980 Oilers or anything, but there's really no downside in the Pens riding into hostile road environments and taking 4 points. These 4 points move them to 81, 8 or so points behind the Rangers. David Copperfield making his first appearance of the season on Monday. And the secondary scoring is showing up almost on a nightly basis again…just in time for the playoffs. … View post
