RECAP: Should He Try To Do Some More. PENS WIN. Source: The Pensblog
When Mario Lemieux or Double J would hop over the bench, you couldn't help but get to the edge of your seat. It's an intangible feeling to describe. Any time 66 or 68 was on the ice, something could happen at any given moment, and you wanted to be ready for it. Sidney Crosby, in all that he's done, has never done that for us. He does now. Even something as simple as the first time he touched the puck in this game. He had speed through the neutral zone, confronts the D-man, performs a spin move, and gets off a backhand that had more velocity to it than a Rob Scuderi slap shot. But more importantly, you cannot take for granted what his second goal did for the Pens. The game was 2-1, and Atlanta was owning the period, save for a Pens PP goal. Enter Bing. He splits the Atlanta D, buries it, and makes it 2-2 late in the first period. Completely changed the game. Pens regained their shit after that and went on to cruise to a 6-3 win … Read more

NHL: Mother Nature Is About To Melt the Winter Classic in Pittsburgh Source: Bleacher Report
Back when we were kids, there was always that day when the outdoor portion of the hockey season ended. You and your buddies showed up at the pond, but your sheet of dreams had been rained on lightly the night before, and it now was groaning and creaking. Its color wasn’t what you remembered, and there was now a layer of slush on top. You had no choice at that point but to send one of your buddy’s kid brothers out on the ice to see if it held. Every once in a while, he fell through and you had to come up with a story right then and there. Chances are that the NHL isn’t going to send Sidney Crosby or Alex Overchkin onto the ice at Heinz Field to see if it will hold or not, but the chances that league’s portion of the outdoor season, at least in the US, is done. … Read more

2 Winter Classic Tickets For Sale!

Friday, December 24th, 2010

Remember this pic i posted on twitter? http://twitpic.com/35p8kw

If you dont worry not i will explain. Foley’s Pub aka our Penguins bar in NYC was doing a raffle for 2 tickets to 2011 Winter Classic. Everyone who came on Wednesdays had a chance at winning them. Guess what!? I won them!!! Here is a shot of Shaun the owner of the bar presenting tickets to me last night: http://is.gd/jopdF

The sad part is that i can not go. After long and deliberate pondering of what to do with the tickets i have decided to sell them and put money to good use. I am going to sell the tickets and buy myself lots of useless junk i don’t really need! WOO HOO! Yeah right just kidding. I am not going to do that.

I am selling the tickets and putting money towards no other than our very own MouthFullOfTang‘s college bill! So that she can hopefully one day finally graduate from college and then go work for Pittsburgh Penguins organization. I don’t think i could have come up with better use for the money. Check out video she recently made about our Meetup group.

I am putting the tickets up for auction on ebay. So if you want to bid and support the cause this money will go towards go ahead and bid high! Here is the link to the ebay auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/150538774077

Please help to spread the word. Thanks!

Special thanks to Foleys Pub and the owner Shaun who made all this possible!

LETS GO PENS!

Hey guys, it’s been a while…

I’d feel remiss if I didn’t mention the fact that Kris Letang is having a hell of a year.  Thankfully, fans are recognizing his accomplishments, and have catapulted him into first place in defenseman voting for the All-Star game with 342,118 votes as of this afternoon.  Now, the All-Star game essentially means absolutely nada in the NHL (much to my chagrin…only thing I like about baseball more is their All-Star game determining home advantage in the finals but I digress) but it would be nice for Kris to participate if only so we get more pictures like this:

and this:

and, even cute things like this:

So, on to the real reason I spent 15 minutes fighting wordpress to log in today…

I finally finished a short documentary on the New York City Pittsburgh Penguins Meetup Group.  usbzoso speaks often for his love of the Meetup group, and now you can all see why for yourselves!

Check it out, and share with fellow Pens fans.

Enjoy!
