Loved watching Russians playing despite Ambien Walrus knocking on my door. Evgeni Malkin registered 1 goal and 1 assist. Russians looked hungry and nothing will satisfy them except the taste of gold. On a good note Belarus is playing against Finland today 3:00pm EST! Don’t miss it or Ambien Walrus will come after you! Keep your eyes open. Here are some pictures i was able to find from yesterday’s game. Enjoy.
Evgeni Malkin and Sergei Gonchar flew in together to Vancouver. Geno denied rumors of a bumpy-adventure-filled ride which included emergency landing 200 kilometers away from the city. In his interview Geno said that he is hoping that his old number 11 will bring him good luck. He said he started out playing under that number when he was little in Magnitogorsk. When he made the master team he changed it to 71. However, his line mate Ilya Kovalchuk is wearing his number 71 so Geno decided to revert back to his old number. Besides Kovalchuk his other line mate will be Maxim Afinogenov.
When Geno was asked about Sidney Crosby he said that they are very good friends. They have been team mates for 4 years now and won Stanley Cup together. They have much respect for each other. However, if he gets a chance to check Crosby during Olympics he said he will do it and maybe even more than once.
Pavel Lysenkov took and posted some awesome pictures from yesterday’s practice on his blog. I also found awesome video of Geno on his blog if you want to know the story behind the video read here.
Below are the pictures he took. Enjoy! Here are some more links to awesome Vancouver related pics Pavel took and posted on his blog [1], [2], [3], [4] … you’d be doing yourself a huge disservice if you didn’t check out these pictures.
The last couple games taking us into the break didnt hold the best results. An OT and SO loss still tallies up a couple points for the guins, but it never feels good to come that far and not pull out the W.
That being said, there is absolutely no time to dwell as players are being thrust into Olympic competition in less than 48 hours.
The planes have landed and the boys are in town.
For the next two weeks NHL foes will be united while team mates will be pit against each other fighting for honor, glory and gold.
Yes good news all around indeed. Pens top Isles at home 3-1. Habs top Caps at home 6-5 with ~8 seconds left in OT goal by Tomas Plekanec assisted by Sergei Kostitsyn. This puts an end to Caps 14 game winning streak which was coming too close to current record of 17 games set by Penguins in ‘92-93 season.
Evgeni Malkin with some awesome puck handing display last night picked up his 21st goal and 42nd assist. He is on 11 game point streak which is the longest active streak in the league.

Go Geno!
Check out awesome pics of Geno and Staal having man love session during yesterday’s game warmups … eurydice_krg (thx TPB)
Kris Kunitz marked his official come back after being out with abdominal surgery picked up first star of the game. He had 2 goals, 4 shots and 3 hits.
While Fleury was excellent in the net with 37 saves … he had much needed support from our defensemen as well. Kris Letang with a huge stick save of the night with a wide open net. After that Tanger scooped the puck under himself ” … rookie John Tavares basically two-handed him. Letang got a penalty for delay of game, and Tavares got a penalty for being an idiot.” (best described by TPB)
Pens are now only a point away behind the Devils in the Atlantic Divison.
Another highlight of the game was the Potash’s video of snowy road trip which was aired on FSN Pittsburgh during 1st intermission. If you missed it … worry not my brother or sister … GhostWalker40 has your back.
Brooks Orpik on NHL Live at 1:15 pm today.
Happy 26th Birthday to Max Talbot!
Talbot probably won’t be back till after Olympic break.
