Life is Hockey.

The two go hand in hand.

We’ve all heard the statistics about how competitive sports can improve many different areas of our lives. Academic, social, physical, and even personal aspects.

Hockey is a sport full of character. It teaches us about determination and about dedication and strength. It’s built on hope and driven by heart. Perhaps above all it promotes loyalty, teamwork and identity.

2009 has been an incredible year for hockey. Especially if you’re a pens fan.

In just two days, I’ll be packing up everything I can cram into 3 suitcases and making the solo journey across the country to Vancouver BC where I will be living and attending school. I want to start 2010 off with a bang and make the most of my experiences and adventures out west.

Fortunately, my move also coincides with Canada’s hosting of the 2010 Olympic games.

…….Yeah… TOTAL coincidence………………….

Like most of my fellow Canadians I anxiously awaited the announcement of the Team Canada Roster this morning.

Congratulations are in order for Marc Andre Fleury (still fighting for a starting position) and for Sidney Crosby (assuming the role of Assistant Captain).

 

 

With the New Year comes fresh starts and exciting opportunities. It’s a whole new year of wins and loses, of ups and downs, of triumphs and defeats… essentially it’s a blank slate, but what can we take with us from 2009?….

 

I’ve learned that violence is not always the answer.

 

 

I’ve learned to believe in second chances.

 

 

I’ve learned to never give up or give in.

 

 

I’ve learned to choose my friends wisely.

 

 

I’ve learned to take chances.

 

 

I’ve learned to never underestimate or sell yourself short.

 

 

I’ve learned that it’s not over til it’s over.

It’s been one hell of a roller coaster year and whether you’re a rookie or a seasoned veteran it’s been a pleasure to be on this ride with you.
