Ok its time to set all rumors aside and separate facts from fiction. I am a huge Led Zeppelin fan and Jimmy Page had a significant influence in my life. As i always say there are only 2 men in this universe i would go gay for Evgeni Malkin in Pens uniform and Jimmy Page from 70’s chugging on a bottle of Jack Daniels. How i became a Led Zeppelin fan is another story which also includes how i met my best friend Rafal W. About 12 years ago when i was in high school i was obsessed with The Beatles. One day i was carrying some Beatles CDs with me and this douchebag Polish guy approached me and said: “Wow you listen to this type of music? Do you ever listen to Led Zeppelin?” At that point i didn’t so he brought me Led Zeppelin BBC Sessions Album to listen to. If you haven’t heard this album your life is incomplete. Since i do many things backwards in life i popped 2nd cd … and first song i heard that came on was Immigrant Song. “This is a … this is something we have waited for a long time on this show, and i know its going to be well worth the wait. So would you welcome please Led Zeppelin!” My life was never the same after that.
Why am i talking about Led Zeppelin on the Penguins blog? Well that’s because we have Massive Johnson! In case you didn’t know Brent Johnson or Zoso as i call him is a huge Led Zeppelin fan as well. He is known for expressing his love for Led Zeppelin on all of his goalie masks. First time i saw his mask my jaw dropped to the ground and i giggled like a silly school girl that has a crush on her teacher. It was love at first sight. Brent Johnson aka Zoso aka Massive Johnson is THE MAN! Lets get to the goodies … His first Penguins helmet …
This mask features the Led Zeppelin Wizard holding a lamp and the 4 symbols … one for each band member of Led Zeppelin. Jimmy Page in particular is Zoso. Then of course Robert Plant, John Bonham, and John Paul Jones.
If you follow me on twitter then you probably know my handle is @usbzoso. USB are initials for the school i went to University of Stony Brook and Zoso well that’s Jimmy Page
… you should see my Les Paul its not Gibson but rather Epiphone however it gets the job done!
Last night i was running late for the game because i was staring chaos and mayhem at the white house with the Pensblog Charlie and MouthFullOfTang was keeping me updated throughout the first period. When she told me that Massive Johnson got rid of his Led Zeppelin mask i completely disowned him as my boy. Well i was too quick to judge when i came home and took a look at his new mask i was relived and Massive Johnson was reinstated as my boy. Here starring back at me was the cover of Physical Graffiti album with word “Pittsburgh Penguins” spelled out in the windows.
In case you haven’t seen Physical Graffiti album cover here it is …
It features a picture of a building thats located in 96 and 98 St. Mark’s Place, New York, NY, USA. Here is a real picture of the buildings… ohh yeah to enable it to fit to original LP, the fourth floor (of five) had to be cropped out
On the back of the mask are the lyrics from Stairway to Heaven song. Hearing Bob Errey trying to sing “Stairway to Heaven” during yesterdays game was priceless as well. Pascal Dupuis finally shared some of his home cooking with Geno and Fedotenko. All 3 had a goal and Geno with the game winner in OT. Great to see Tenk and Geno back on the scoresheet on the same night! Pretty sure i heard Bob Errey say that Geno called his own goal. Unreal! Trade Pascal The Birth Canal he is worthless!
Lets Go Pens!!!
