Yesterday was a great day! Pens Raised their 3rd banner during awesome pregame ceremony. I am sure somebody must have dropped a tear or two while the banner was raising.
Dad was in the house pictured below supporting the overloaded tables with Stanley Cup, Art Ross, Conn Smythe and Prince of Wales Trophies.
Good stuff. Moving on. Drop the puck. Off we go! AHHH HOCKEY ONCE AGAIN! Mid first period … Geno promised … Geno delivered. A sweet redirect off of Sergei Gonchar’s whistling shot found its way in the back of Rangers net during power play. Goligoski also got an assist. ALL MONEY HERE 1-0.
11 minutes into 1st period Godard and Brashear drop their gloves after faceoff. Brashear tries to start off a fight with a few cheap shots but Godard comes back with his sexy dance of seduction. Brashear gets overwhelmed and his head squirts funny juice all over the ice.
With 4 minutes left in 1st Drury evens out the score 1-1. Beginning of the 2nd period Marc-Andre Fleury with a huge glove save on Prospal. This deserves a video highligh …
About half way into the 2nd Sid wasn’t about to let Geno get all the glory. Billy G to Letang to Sid in front of the net, wrist shot and its 2-1. Funny how just when i was talking trash about Letang’s ability to pass the puck about 30 seconds later he comes up with this amazing assist. Work on it Tanger. Worth mentioning that our 3rd line lead by Jordan Staal looked really good on the ice throughout the whole game. Jordan got a lot of solid chances to score but just couldn’t bury the puck. Work on it Jordan. Mid-way through the 2nd TK redirected wrist shot by Goligoski who was set up by Jordan Staal. 3-1 Alex Goligoski is a beast with 2 assists in the first game named 3rd star. 5 minutes into the third Gaborik scores for Rangers to make it 3-2. I wasn’t too impressed with Brooks Orpik i saw him try to put his body on a few players but unfortunately he seemed to ricochet right back, not the Candy Man i remember in playoffs. Work on it Brooks.
Overall crowd at Foley’s approved of the first game and said BRING ON THE ISLES!
