I called Geno today since i might not be able to call him tomorrow before the game. To my surprise, this time he didn’t answer his phone in Russian. “Hi, this Gina,” he said in a high pitched voice. I said “Cut the crap, Zhenya and get serious for tomorrows game.” He responded by saying, “No worri3s comrad3. I scor3 goal 4 u tomorrow.” I will hold him responsible for these words. Can’t wait to see #71 on the ice again … didn’t get to see him as much as i hoped during preseason.

My dad was in the news today visiting Toronto for Leafs vs Candians pregame ceremony. Thanks EmptyNetters for this picture. Worth mentioning that Paul Coffey was among a few being honored. Ran across a great compilation of 2009-2010 Pittsburgh Penguins Predictions from various bloggers. Thanks to Sean for his great work in putting this stuff that no one reads. In case you don’t want to read it here is the link. Sid reported being a little harder after playing with his stick in the preseason. The roar of silence from the Penguins HD radio being lunched today at 9am was hardly defying. The suggested links to listen to it now produced nothing but static noise coming out of my speakers. Maybe its just me but i heavily doubt it. I guess we are in the stand-by-while-experiencing-technical-difficulties mode for now. I’ll be sure to keep my ears open. In case for some odd reason you’d like to spend more money than you already are you might want to check out this site for some tips on how to listen to this static noise in high definition not over internet but through a receiver. Another ravaging story on Marc Andre Fleury getting the credit he deserves or doesn’t. Personally, to me MAF was never the same after he discarded those silly bright yellow pads he was using. In case you forgot, theory proposed by an optometrist in Ottawa states that the white pads tend to blend in with the ice, while the colored pads stand out and give shooters a better look at the goalie. MAF is a beast with Stanley Cup to prove it, get over it or learn to deal with it, end of story.
Big grats to Disco Dan for his first NHL season opener game which will take place tomorrow if everything goes well. I hope this year he won’t ignore my chants of “Coach put me in!” Dan’s buddy Shero was talking about how he plans to help Penguins defend Stanley Cup in 2010. And finally yinz guys should join Vice President Tom McMillan, 13 year old veteran of Penguins organization during his visit to the Press Club on Wed. Oct. 21st. Mr. McMillan, the team’s vice president of communications, oversees corporate communications strategy, media relations, broadcasting and Web site content. He is a charter member of the NHL’s Communications Advisory Board. If you go to see him be sure to ask him what the hell happened to the Penguins HD Radio broadcast today.
